25 -Year-Old Pregnant Housewife Fakes Kidnapping To Extort Money From Her Facebook Boyfriend

Jamila Ardo, a 25-year-old pregnant housewife, is currently detained at the Yola Correctional Centre for reportedly fabricating her own kidnapping and demanding N2.076 million in ransom from a Facebook lover.

On Thursday, February 24, the suspect was arraigned before chief magistrate court I in Yola for criminal conspiracy and kidnapping in violation of sections 60 and 248 of the penal code. Jamila, however, pleaded not guilty.

The suspect, who lives in the Wauru Jabbe area of the state capital, is accused of conspiring with one Abdulaziz and staging her kidnapping in order to collect N2.076 million in ransom from her Abuja-based lover, Adamu Ahmed.

According to the police, the accused and Mallam Adamu began their amorous relationship on social media (Facebook) and were plotting how to marry despite Adamu's knowledge that Jamila was already married. Although it was discovered that the internet lovers had yet to meet in person, the bond became stronger until the bubble burst.

She allegedly conspired with Abdulaziz and sent a call to Mallam Adamu, informing him that she had been kidnapped. Adamu was reported to have overheard Jamila crying and pleading with him over the phone to pay the ransom so that she may be released.

Adamu, a man completely in love with Jamila, quickly got into a relationship with her.

Adamu's girlfriend informed him that the captors had released her after he sent the money. He grew concerned and filed a complaint with the SIB in a letter dated November 16, 2021.

The letter was submitted through his legal counsel and later approved by Adamawa State Commissioner of Police. Adamu detailed how Jamila plotted with Abdulaziz, abducted herself, and demanded money from him as ransom in his letter.

Amina Mohammed was arrested after a police inquiry revealed that her friend Jamila had sought her account number so that someone might pay money to her on her behalf.
