E-levy deductions will begin in May, according to the Finance Minister.

Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta has intimated that, all things being equal, the e-levy deductions will begin in May.

He stated that the Controller and Accountant General, as well as the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), who will be the revenue collectors, have assured him of this.

The E-levy Bill was passed by Parliament yesterday. The Minority in Parliament and 90% of Ghanaians protested the Bill, but it was passed anyway. They claim that the funds from the E-levy will be used to create jobs, fix roads, and build schools, among other things.

Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will deliver the state-of-the-nation speech in Parliament later today, Wednesday, March 30.
