I don't know what came over me — a woman admits after setting her 10-year-old daughter on fire over the phone.

The Nigerian mom who allegedly set her own daughter on fire over the phone has stated that she had no idea what gripped her faculties and triggered her heinous behavior.

It will be remembered that the mom, Aisha Tijani, doused her 10-year-old daughter in gasoline and set her flame.

The suspect was apprehended following a report at Mowe divisional headquarters by one Moroof Ayinde, according to the command's spokeswoman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement issued on Tuesday, March 22.

Ayinde claimed that the suspect, who lives in the same house as him, poured gasoline on her daughter and lit her on fire.

According to the officer, the woman became enraged after a little girl stole a phone she had confiscated from one of her children and returned it to the child whose hand the phone had been seized.

"The victim, who had been severely burned, was brought to the local hospital, from where she was sent to Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital for urgent medical assistance," he said.

During interrogation, the suspect, who claimed to have been separated from the children's father, told police, "I don't know what came over her when she was carrying out the horrible crime."
