Three people have been arrested in Komenda for burying a 2-year-old autistic child alive.

A couple and a 70-year-old grandfather have been arrested by the Komenda Police Command for burying their two-year-old autistic child alive at Dutch Komenda in the Central Region's Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipality.

A spiritualist told the couple, Abas Sualihu, 37, and Rahinatu Sualihu, 29, that the little boy was a "spirit child" (a child given to parents by a river deity), and that he didn't deserve to live and had to be buried alive because of his physical condition.

The couple arranged with the boy's grandfather, Kweku Baah, the main suspect, to bury him on the coast of Dutch Komenda at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, March 25th.

Fortunately, the baby was spotted and rescued by a passer-by.

The spiritualist is being sought by the police for his role in the illegal crime, according to the police.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court early this week for prosecution, according to the police. Autism is a developmental disease marked by difficulties in social interaction and communication, as well as restricted or repetitive thought and behavior patterns.
