A fire tender somersaults, injuring six firefighters.

Six fire personnel were taken to the hospital after their tender somersaulted while on its route to tackle a fire breakout in Obuasi, Ashanti Region.

At around 12 p.m. on Sunday, officers received a distress call to put out a fire in a residential apartment in Kyekyewere, an Obuasi suburb.

When the driver got to a part of the road near the Obuasi Sports Stadium, he tried to divert the vehicle away from a bridge that was being built, but he ended up colliding with a building.

The tender crashed over, injuring eight fire officers.

Two of the firefighters were treated and released, while the remaining six are being treated at the Obuasi Government Hospital and the AGA Health Foundation.

The tragedy was blamed on the lack of construction workers to build signage to warn road users, according to ACFO I Henry Giwah, Ashanti Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service.
