Cast, premiere date, and everything else you need to know about Yellowstone Season 5

Although Season 5 of Yellowstone won't premiere until November, there are interesting events taking place on the ranch in the interim. The fifth season of Yellowstone is presently in production, and new episodes are being cast as they are shot.

The universe of the groundbreaking show, Yellowstone, is growing with a number of spin-offs in addition to the upcoming season. But if you came here to learn what to expect from the upcoming Yellowstone season that will focus on the modern-day Dutton family, stop reading now.

Compared to the brutal, dramatic cliffhanger of Season 3, Season 4's finale was much more subdued. We all know that Beth (Kelly Reilly) is the mastermind behind all activities on the Yellowstone ranch, and she tricked Jamie (Wes Bentley), her adoptive brother, into killing Garrett, his original father (Will Patton). The attempted strikes on John (Kevin Costner), Beth, and Kayce (Luke Grimes) back in Season 3 were actually ordered by Garrett, thus in Beth's opinion, he definitely deserved it. In order to put Jamie, a contender for governor, under her control, Beth made sure to have proof of the deed. Additionally, she recently witnessed her father's new, perplexing vegan friend (Piper Perabo), go to jail, and she recently got impromptu married to Rip (Cole Hauser). In other words, for the time being, everyone is simply existing in Beth's world.

Kayce's recent intense spiritual journey, which gave him a vision of two paths, complicates Beth's ambition for global/Montana dominance. He later revealed to Monica (Kelsey Asbille) that at least one of those options would be "the end of us." Whatever that means, it can't be good, and the lengthy wait for Season 5 is made all the more difficult.

Here is all the information you need to know about what to anticipate in the interim.

Cast

Season 5 will bring both seasoned and fresh faces to the ranch. Josh Lucas will make his first appearance as young John Dutton since Season 3; it appears that several flashback scenes will be used as he'll be accompanied by Kylie Rogers as young Beth and Kyle Red Silverstein as young Rip. Additionally, Jacki Weaver is back as Caroline Warner, while Wendy Moniz and Mo Bring Plenty are now series regulars as Mo and Governor Lynelle Perry, respectively.

Four new characters will also be arriving in Yellowstone. Young cowboy Rowdy, played by Kai Caster, will be featured. Abby is the name of the musician played by Lainey Wilson. Clara Brewer, a new assistant for one of the Duttons who we already feel sorry for, will be played by Lilli Kai, and 1883's Dawn Olivieri will portray Sarah Atwood, a newcomer to Montana who is a "business shark," per the official character description.

Fear not, the entire regular cast will be back. As John Dutton, Gil Birmingham plays Thomas Rainwater, Kelly Reilly plays Beth, Luke Grimes plays Kayce, Wes Bentley plays Jamie, Cole Hauser plays Rip, Kelsey Asbille plays Monica, Brecken Merrill plays Tate, Finn Little plays Carter, and Kevin Costner plays John Dutton. Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Ryan Bingham, and Jen Landon as Teeter—who has been elevated to series regular—will all be returning along with the rest of the bunkhouse.

Along with Jefferson White reprising his role as Jimmy, Kathryn Kelly, who plays Jimmy's fiancĂ©e Emily, has also been elevated to series regular status. The reformed problem magnet will therefore be staying somewhere, despite having selected the Four Sixes over Yellowstone.

Launch Date

On Sunday, November 13, Yellowstone will make a triumphant comeback to Paramount Network, just in time for the holidays.

Release Timetable

There will be two blocks of seven episodes each in Season 5, for a total of 14 episodes. Although it's the biggest season to date, it's not yet known how long the intermission will be.

Spinoffs and Prequels

In the world of Taylor Sheridan shows about ranchers, Yellowstone is no longer unique and probably never will be. Prequel miniseries 1883, which told the tale of the Dutton family's arrival in Montana, has previously shown on Paramount+. Until the older sister of John Dutton's grandfather John Sr., the brave and daring girl Elsa (Isabel May), was shot with a soiled arrow, they were on their way to Oregon. The Dutton family settled there when her father James (Tim McGraw) found her a lovely valley in Montana to die in. David Oyelowo will play Bass Reeves in the 1883 spinoff 1883: The Bass Reeves Story. Reeves was the illustrious first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi. He was a former slave who reportedly never suffered an injury while apprehending over 3,000 offenders.
