VIRGIN RIVER:WHAT HAPPENED TO LILLY BEFORE SEASON 4 AND WHO WAS SHE IN VIRGIN RIVER?

Ever since the Netflix series Virgin River debuted in 2019, love and loss have been a major topic.

Season 4 is no different, as the community is still processing the loss of Lilly in season 3, but Hope is having trouble recalling what happened to her dear friend after getting into a vehicle accident on the way to Lilly's burial.

In addition to inquiring what happened to Hope, Virgin River fans who are a little fuzzy on the events of past seasons are also curious about Lilly prior to season 4.

LILLY IN VIRGIN RIVER: WHO WAS SHE?

One of the many inhabitants of Virgin River, Lilly made her debut in season 1. She is Tara's mother, the owner of her own farm, and a close friend of a number of other characters, especially Connie and Hope.

After a newborn was abandoned at Doc Mullins' clinic in the show's first few episodes, she soon rose to prominence.

Lilly was identified as the baby's mother when she was observed breastfeeding the child while Mel took a break and after Mel promised to take care of the child.

Due of postpartum depression, Lilly wanted to abandon the kid Mel had named Chloe. However, Lilly decided to keep the child with a little assistance from Mel and her pals.

Since then, Lilly has made numerous appearances in the show. In season 2, when Brady was working for a group of marijuana growers, he came dangerously close to buying Lilly's farm. But Lilly resisted signing over her farm when she found out about his business associates.

WHY DID LILLY IN VIRGIN RIVER DISAPPEAR?

In season three of Virgin River, Lilly's tale came to an end when she passed away following a pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

Early in the season, Lilly was visibly exhausted and seemed ill; her daughter Tara thought she had too much on her plate.

However, Lilly revealed to Mel at the conclusion of episode 2 that she had been given a stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

Before finally telling Tara and Doc Mullins about her diagnosis, Lilly hid it for a few more episodes. However, she persuaded Doc not to tell Hope, who had been out of town for the majority of season 3.

When Tara woke Lilly up from her little nap before supper in episode 8, Lilly learned that her mother had passed away from a stroke she had suffered while sleeping.

In episode 9, the Virgin River community came together to say goodbye to Lilly, but Hope was unable to return in time for the funeral because of a vehicle accident she had experienced on the way back to town, as Doc discovered at the episode's conclusion.

In season four, Hope struggles to remember Lilly.

Hope have difficulty reconstructing her memories after being in an accident and having her brain damaged throughout season 4.

While current memories are more hazy and she is ignorant that Lilly passed away, she can recall events from decades before, including her and Doc's first kiss.

Hope is saddened by Lilly's departure, and in an effort to soothe her, her friends mistakenly inform her that Lilly is still alive. Nevertheless, Doc is ultimately compelled to affirm Lilly's fate in a heartbreaking sequence.

Despite dying in season 3, that wasn't the last time we saw Lilly; in episode 9, when Hope needs some much-needed advice and consolation, she has a vision of her deceased friend.

Virgin River's fourth season premiered on July 20, 2022, and is now streaming on Netflix.
