Kevin Costner of Yellowstone addresses the John Dutton death rumors: "Everyone dies!"

Kevin Costner, a YELLOWSTONE mainstay, has responded to rumors that his character John Dutton would die in the forthcoming fifth season of the Paramount Network drama.

In Yellowstone's fifth season, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his family will have to engage in a new battle in order to defend their ranch and land. The Dutton matriarch will face off against Market Equities once more in season five as the company desperately searches for property to create an airport and corporate empire - as well as looks to slap Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) in the face over her interference in the previous season.

There have been some significant casting announcements, despite the fact that secrets have been kept tightly under wraps since the fifth season's filming in Montana began earlier this year.

Wendy Moniz, Mo Brings Plenty, and Jen Landon have all been promoted to series regular for their respective roles as Governor Lynelle Perry, Mo, and Teeter, potentially hinting at further developments.

The actor who played John Dutton in flashbacks throughout the Paramount drama, Josh Lucas, returned, which was another significant casting development.

Costner was questioned about the potential significance of Lucas' return during a recent interview with Extra TV that aired earlier this month.

She even questioned whether it would indicate that John will pass away in the forthcoming fifth run, which caused the Oscar winner to smirk.

He laughed with the interviewer and said, "Well, I don't want to die."

He said, perhaps dispelling the rumor, "There's just too much to do.

Costner remarked, "In terms of this plot, I don't know where that's going to go.

"I haven't really given that much thought. Everyone passes away, but what matters is how you live.

Costner also discussed whether he knows how Yellowstone will end and whether showrunner Taylor Sheridan has shared the show's direction with him.

Even though we claim to know, he said, "No, I don't (know) because I think in some ways we're making it up."

"If we say we know it, is that really what it means?" Costner continued. What appears on the page, in my opinion, will be what I focus on.

Although it wouldn't be John's first brush with death, it would be a turn-up for the books if he died in season 5.

When John discovered a tumour had ruptured in his stomach during the first season, the ranch's veterinarian performed a life-saving operation.

Additionally, he was a victim of the ambush that occurred in the third season finale and put several Duttons' lives in danger.

While Kayce (Luke Grimes) was ambushed by hitmen brandishing assault rifles, Beth was in the center of an explosion that caused her office's eardrums to rupture.

Fortunately, the season four premiere revealed that all three survived. It soon became clear that Garrett Randall (Will Patton), the biological father of Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), was responsible for the murder attempts.

In the end, Beth used blackmail to get Jamie to kill his own father in order to avoid the wrath of the Dutton family or time in jail.

When is customary for Beth, she caught him in the act of removing the body, and as season five begins, Jamie is firmly in Beth and John's control.

On November 13, Yellowstone season 5 debuts on the Paramount Network in the United States. There is no release date yet for the UK.
