I only made $300K during my criminal career; I made money hawking sneakers from my car boot — Hushpuppi

Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi, a well-known con artist, has said that the only money he made from his crimes was $300,000.

Hushpuppi has been in a U.S. jail for almost two years while he waits to be sentenced. The FBI caught him because he had scammed over 2 million people and institutions in the State.

Hushpuppi asked Judge Otis D. Wright to reduce his jail time by saying that he only made $300,000 as a fraudster and made the rest of his money by selling shoes out of the trunk of his car.

Peoples Gazette got a handwritten letter from Mr. Abbas that was written to Mr. Wright and filed with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Friday. In the letter, Mr. Abbas talked about how he started out as a salesman.

Mr. Abbas wrote, "I started my business more than 25 years ago by trading and selling sneakers and clothes in our neighborhood. I used to sell clothes out of the trunk of my car, but now I own my own boutique in my city and beyond through my company, MONEABBAS NIG LTD."
