Outer Banks Season 3: Release Date, Cast, Latest News, and Everything to Know

Season 3 of Outer Banks can't come soon enough. When the second season of the popular Netflix drama came out more than a year ago, it was the last time we saw John B. (Chase Stokes) and his friends.

Big John, John B.'s dad, who hasn't been seen since the first episode of Outer Banks Season 1 but was played by Charles Halford, is alive! We don't know what will happen in Season 3, but we hope that the father and son will get back together and that our favorite Pogues will have more exciting adventures.

The series takes place in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and is about a group of teens called the Pogues. John B. says that they are the "bottom of the food chain." John B. and his friends go on a trip to find out what happened to his father and must fight the rival Kooks. What starts out as a curious quest turns into a dangerous treasure hunt.

The first episode of Season 1 of Outer Banks came out on April 20, 2020, and the second episode came out on July 30, 2021. Here's what we know so far about Season 3 of Outer Banks.

What's New?

In an interview with Metacritic, Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays the scheming Carla Limbrey on the show, talked about what's next for her character. Mitchell said, "I get to hang out with Big John (Charles Halford) a lot, which is great because he's great." In the last scene of Season 2 of Outer Banks, Big John told Limbrey that he would help her find the healing shroud if she agreed to help his son John B. This partnership was hinted at in the last scene of Season 2.

"I'm not sure if you'd call it "teaming up," but they do spend a lot of time together, especially in the beginning." Limbrey has already shown that she can't be trusted: in Season 2, she killed her half-brother. Let's just say that Mitchell said, "I don't know if Limbrey is really a team player."

On February 28, the official Outer Banks accounts posted photos that said work on Season 3 has begun.

Cast

On June 23, Netflix said that the next season will have new cast members. Carlos Singh, who Andy McQueen plays, is a "ruthless Caribbean Don on his own treasure hunt." Lou Ferrigno Jr. will also be in the movie. He will play Singh's top security officer. Fiona Palomo will play Sofia in Season 3. Netflix says Sofia is "a self-identified Pogue who gets close to Rafe."

Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Rudy Pankow, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Austin North, Drew Starkey, and Charles Esten will all be back for Outer Banks Season 3. Deadline says that Carlacia Grant, who plays Cleo, the newest member of the core group of friends in The Pogues, has been promoted to a series regular.

When Is Outer Banks Coming Back?

No date has been set for the official release of Season 3.

Season 2 of What Happened in Outer Banks

Like the end of Season 1, Season 2 of Outer Banks ended with the Pogues almost dying. During most of the second episode of the Netflix show, John B., Sarah, JJ, Kiara, and Pope tried to find and bring back the lost Cross of Santo Domingo. In the last episode of the season, the crew sneaked aboard the Coastal Venture and tried to steal the cross. After a chaotic shootout, they failed and had to escape on a lifeboat. Even though the Pogues went home empty-handed again, the episode ended on a good note because they were happy to be together and safe — for now.
