On the day of the funeral, a family is angry that the hospital hasn't returned their loved one's body.

At the St. Xavier Hospital Mortuary in Assin Fosu, things got crazy when the facility couldn't find a body that a family had left there to be kept until the day of the burial.

The incident happened over the weekend in Nuanua Asubone, which is in the Assin South District of the Central Region. It caused tension between the family and the hospital staff.

Linda Obiri Akufo, who was 57 years old, was supposed to have her last funeral on October 1 and October 2, 2022. But it was shocking that the facility staff could not give the body to the family when they went to get it to bury it.

This made both the family and the hospital angry and upset. For things to calm down, the police had to step in.

Nana Atua "I," who is also the Ankobiahene of Nunua Asubone and was married to the person who died, said that all the arrangements had been made, including food and drinks, but that the body could not be found.

So, the family had no choice but to cancel the funeral. The faces of the people who had come from all over the country to mourn were full of disappointment and sadness.

The Assemblymember of Assin Adiembra Electoral Area, Mr. George Oliver Gyimah, said that after a series of talks with the hospital's management, the facility's leaders have asked for two weeks to look for the body.

The angry family members think that the Hospital Authorities sold the body.

Georgina Donzing, who is in charge of the St. Francis Xavier Hospital, asked the public to keep trusting them: "It's a human institution, so this could happen once in a while, but there are strict measures in place to make sure it doesn't happen at all.

The case has been given to the police so they can look into it.
