Ralph Macchio has good news about Cobra Kai's 6 season.

Ralph Macchio talks about what will happen in season 6 of the Karate Kid spinoff Cobra Kai. The finale of Cobra Kai season 5, which came out on Netflix in early September, was a big surprise. It wasn't a twist or cliffhanger, but rather the fact that, for the first time in the show's history, there were no big rivalries at the end. The characters made peace with each other or even got along, leaving viewers to wonder what the spinoff would be like without the main characters' rivalries.

Also, if it is renewed, season 6 of Cobra Kai is likely to be pushed back. This is because the show's creators, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, are also working on other projects, such as the high-profile Ferris Bueller's Day Off spinoff movie. For the first time in a long time, the future of Cobra Kai is unclear. This is because the ending was unusually happy, and the people who make the show are busy.

New comments from Macchio, who plays Daniel LaRusso on the show, clear up this question. Macchio talks to Us Weekly about the status of Cobra Kai season 6 to promote his new book, Waxing On: The Karate Kid and Me. Even though the article says the actor has "some butterflies" about whether or not the show will be renewed, Macchio is generally upbeat and says the popular spinoff still has good stories to tell:

It hasn't been picked up yet. That is the truth, so I have to say it. But we're happy that we'll be able to keep making the show and let it change and land when it needs to. The people who write this show, Jon [Hurwitz], Josh [Heald], and Hayden [Schlossberg], are just so good at knowing what the fans want. They are the people who like the fans. It has more meat on its bones. But it has to be fun and natural, and I think there are many places to go every season. Whether you hire Tamlyn Tomita as Kumiko [in season 5] or Elizabeth Shue [in season 3], she will be a great addition. You also have Thomas Ian Griffith, who is doing a fantastic job. Karate Kid 3 was never, ever my favorite of the three movies. Now, it's giving us great stories and improved versions of the characters.

Even though the end of season 5 of Cobra Kai is mostly happy, there are still a few loose ends. Among other things, the spinoff talked about the Sekai Taikai, an international karate tournament. The best martial arts fighters from all over the world compete at the event. The writers have said they would like to go down this path further, which would make the story less of a local saga and more of a global one. But closer to home, the same bad guys are still around.

At the end of the finale, it was revealed that Kreese had gotten out of jail. He will probably do something to get the title dojo back to what he thinks is perfect, which will put him at odds with Daniel. So, even though Cobra Kai has finally put an end to its biggest fights, there are probably already plot points for at least another season or two. There could also be spinoffs, which would focus on new characters but still be related to the main franchise.
