Weija floods have claimed one life.

Following the Weija dam disaster, a body was discovered at a home in Tetegu on October 6, 2022, and one death has since been officially ruled as having occurred.

The body, identified as Addi Kwashie, was discovered lying in one of the chambers that had water inside of it.

According to sources, the deceased, a 55-year-old truck pusher also known as Chocholoocho, was found with his body wedged between some of the room's furniture.

The deceased had not been seen in the neighborhood for the previous two days, according to witnesses, and the authorities had been alerted.

Since then, the body has been placed at the neighborhood morgue.

Numerous residents have been displaced, and hundreds of homes near the Weija dam have been flooded.

After the dam's five spill gates were opened by the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), water was released to prevent the dam's collapse.

Oblogo, Tetegu, New Weija, SCC, Tatop, Sampa Valley, portions of Top Town, and American Farm at Ngleshie Amanfro are among the regions that are impacted.

However, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has determined that the flooding in Weija has directly impacted around 2,000 people.

Since this specific spillage was not anticipated, many of the victims accused the GWCL management of managing the matter poorly.
