Bridgerton Season 3: Black Sail's Star Hannah New Joins Cast As Firebrand Widow Lady Tilley Arnold

EXCLUSIVE: Casting for the third season of Bridgerton on Netflix is heating up, and Starz's Black Sails star Hannah New is the latest name that Deadline can reveal.

Lady Tilley Arnold is a fiery widow, and New will play her. She lost her husband at a young age, but now that she is in charge of his estate, she enjoys the privileges and power that come with it. She lives her life on her own terms, both financially and sexually.

New is best known for her four seasons as Eleanor Guthrie on Starz's Black Sails. She became known when she played Princess Leila with Angelina Jolie in the 2014 movie Maleficent. She has also been in FX shows by Guillermo del Toro and Danny Boyle. In the next movie, Summit Fever, by Julian Gilbey, she stars with Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Thorp.

The much-anticipated third season of Shonda Rhimes's show Bridgerton is currently being made. The first episode, called "Out of the Shadows," will be led by Jess Brownell, who is taking over for Chris Van Dusen as showrunner.

The love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, also known as Lady Whistledown, will be the focus of Season 3. This is because Jonathan Bailey will no longer be playing Anthony Bridgerton.

Penelope was hurt when she heard Colin talk badly about her to his friends, so she is determined to find a husband who will respect her independence so she can keep living as Lady Whistledown. Colin is sad that Penelope isn't interested in him now that he's back from his summer trip. Colin wants to be friends with her again, so he helps Penelope feel better about herself so she can meet the right man.

Daniel Francis, Sam Phillips, and James Phoon have also joined the cast, and Hannah Dodd has taken over the role of Francesca Bridgerton.

In a recent Netflix teaser for Tudum, you could see actors like Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope, and Luke Newton, who plays Colin.

Paradigm, CAM in London, and Genuine Artists all work with New.
